Upon returning from a long day away from home Sunday, I found one of my nests with a dead 9-day old chick. The other chick had a mouth and crop infection and wasn't looking too good. His mouth was full of mucus and the food in his crop, as well as the crop lining, were green with infection (not the same green as with fresh veggies!).

I figured it might be too late to help him and since I have no "baby safe" meds in my cabinet, I decided to try something else. My adults were on their Dr. Rob "KD" day and thinking that because it kills germs and bacteria it might work, I mixed some baby formula (slightly watery) with the KD and syringe fed it directly into the baby's crop. To my surprise, within the hour the green food had passed through the baby. The crop lining, however, was still green and pretty scary looking. The mucus in his mouth began to lessen though, and he was moving about much more than when I first noticed the problem.

Today, 3 days later, his mouth and crop are clean. He has gained a full 2 grams and has begun to feather up. He thinks I'm his "mom" and the second he hears me enter the bird room picks his head up and turns to greet me! It is so heartwarming to know he will survive (and thinks I'm his mom! LOL)

I can only attribute his amazing recovery to Dr. Rob Marshall's products, and therefore will continue with the baby the same program as the breeding adults. I'm not really sure that the products are what cured him, but it worked so fast I can only surmise it was the cure! Today I began to mix the formula (much thicker and w/ground seed) with the Ioford/Dufoplus mix that my adults are receiving and he seems stronger still!

As a side note, I also wanted to let you know that you are a big hit with my clients here in Michigan. I tell them all about your website and I know most of them order their products through you. I have also added your link throughout my own website (it's everywhere!) because I think it is one of the most worthwhile Gouldian sites on the web! I always tell them that you are the most knowledgeable person I know, and if I can't answer their question, I send them to you!

Thank you again for your time and all you do!
