In emergency situations, the fancier or pet owner can ensure their bird receives immediate treatment by administering Miniboost directly by mouth or via a crop needle. An emergency is recognized when birds are listless, fluffed up or unable to perch and remain on the bottom of the cage or aviary.
Miniboost can be administered in a number of ways. When birds are critically ill, it is best given with ER Formula via a crop needle. If a crop needle is unavailable, it may also be given by mouth directly from the Miniboost syringe. Very sick birds are unable to produce their own body heat. It is therefore a most critical part of emergency treatment that an external heat source such as a hot water bottle or hospital cage is also made available to the bird.
Miniboost is a great product to keep on hand for when birds suddenly fall ill and the cause of illness is undetermined.

Preparation for Emergency Treatment

Mix 1ml Miniboost into 5ml warm (heated to 86 degrees F) water and from this solution, administer as follows by crop needle:
Finches & Canaries: 1ml Miniboost solution is given in 2ml ER Formula
Budgerigars: 1ml Miniboost solution is given in 2ml ER Formula.
Small Parrots e.g. Coctateil: 2ml Miniboost solution is given in 3ml ER Formula.
Medium Parrots e.g. Galah: 3ml Miniboost solution is given to 5ml ER Formula.
Large Parrots e.g. Cockatoo: 5ml Miniboost solution is given to 10ml warm ER Formula.
Fruit Eating Parrots e.g. Lorikeet: 1/4 ml gel Miniboost gel in 1ml warm fruit juice or nectar.
As the bird recovers and is no longer in a critical state, it is important to determine the exact cause of illness and begin the appropriate treatment. At this time, Miniboost should continue to be given in the drinking water for 5 days to promote the fast recovery.

Drinking Water (all birds): Mix 1ml of Miniboost gel thoroughly into 100ml of drinking water for up to 7 days.
Food (all seed eating birds): Mix 1ml Miniboost gel thoroughly into 100g seed for up to 7 days.
