Name: European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis)
Origin: Britain and Europe
Habitat: Open grassland and woodlands, but have been found in the cities near scrub and on cultivated land as parks and gardens.
Sexing: Small visual difference. Males tend to have a larger red face patch than the females and they may show a more black color on the wings while the females are more dark grey.
Mutations: Sizes: European & Siberian Colors: Agate, Isabella, Pastel, Yellow, Albino, Opal, & Witkop.
Breeding: Moderate. Pair requires a lot of space to fly, a safe place to hide the nest, and a very good balanced diet. Use a Canary style nest.
Social: Doesn't interact with other species in a mixed aviary much but they aren't aggressive either.
Housing: Large flight or Aviary only.
Diet: Require a varied finch & canary seed diet, eggfood, lots of greens and always fresh water.
